Description
After reading the scriptures where it talks about a man that would be inspired to find this land (Americas), my interested in Christopher Columbus peaked. So I did some research on him. He was a very religious man. I also found it interesting that he was a fair skinned, red head man who was by profession a sailor. (he sun burned easily, and in one account his eyes were blue - his hair also turned white before he was 30 years old). I gave him the red hat, cloak, and shoes that were the uniform of his profession at the time.

Beautiful painting. His face so peaceful and intent on his prayers. Where does it say he would be inspired to find this land? I would like to read that!
Lori Brackett replied:
The reference is found in the Latter-day Saint holy writ The Book Of Mormon. The passages that speak of him are the 10th through 13th verses in the First Book of Nephi. I find holy writ (Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, etc.) explains quite a lot for the honest searcher in this day and age where self-important persons, who some folks claim are in the know, say that we should not trust anything one cannot see and/or feel. I find that inner peace and self-actualization lie not in alleged knowledge of supposed facts, but in faith in God.
