Description
I love carousels. I have loved them since I was a child. This love started with a love of horses. Since I could not have a horse of my own, (I even asked my Mom and Dad to get one for me for Christmas and/or my birthday for several years in a row, but they didnt; something about no place to keep him) rides on the carousels were the next best thing. On the ride you could daydream and create stories. I mean, who would not wish for the magic of Mary Poppins. So when the exhibit, Carousels: Art and History in Motioln came to the Museum of Idaho my family and I went to see it. The display is from the International Museum of Carousel Art. The curators are Duane and Carol Perron. It is such a wonderful exhibit to see. Patrons are able to take pictures without flashes so I got some good references . This beauty is from one of them. It made by the Dentzel Company attributed to Daniel Muller c. 1900. He was an immigrant to America who loved to express his patriotism. He did this by carving a defiant, forward facing eagle perched on an American flag (which doubles as a lance) on the horses point of shoulder, which I did not show. This horse caught my eye, so I had to share him with others.
In the Eagle Rock Art Guild's 2013 Spring Show, I Third Place in oil painting.
I also won the Superintendent's Award at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in 2013
