When our family went to Yellowstone National Park in 2012, we stopped to see many sights. One of these was the Artists Paint Pots (I mean, really, I had to stop) about 3 miles south of Norris Junction. Artists Paint Pots is the most popular thermal feature in the Gibbon Geyser Basin. The Artists Paint Pots Trail is a one mile trail that takes you around colorful hot springs, two boiling white mud pots, vents (fumaroles), and a couple of geysers. The iron oxide stains the white mud into many rust colors from yellow to red-orange. But those are not the only colors found in the Paint Pots. There are also blues and grays and whites.
This is the View looking up towards Paintpot Hill. I loved the colors, the rusts of the iron oxide and the greens of the vegetation growing on the hill. Yellowstone National Park is beautiful country.
Lori Brackett grew up in Ammon, a suburb of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She consciously knew she wanted to be an artist since the tender age of five so her education was pursued in that direction. While in junior high and high school, she took almost every art class they offered.
