Description
At one of the homes we rented our landlord was a butcher. He had a friend who had a cow that had a difficult labor. As my family was leaving the yard we saw the calf and ask James, my youngest, if he wanted to stop and meet the baby calf. This image is the result.
This painting has won several awards including: Spectators Choice in the Spring Show put on by the Eagle Rock Art guild in 2005 and in the Eastern Idaho Sate Fair, where it also received Best Storytelling and Top 10 Best of Show.

Oh Lori ! Instant friendship and bonding moment, and you have captured it in this wonderful work - I found you in the Children contest and voted for this (and your other one actually too) - this is just so heartwarming ... I spent many wonderful times at my grandparents' farm and then we lived in farm country to raise our kids for 25 years so I can "feel" this is so tender and poignant (James looks like my son Jeff did, with the hair and the face ) Faved and voted !
Lori Brackett replied:
Thank you Clair for your wonderful words. They warm my heart and make happy. I'm glad to be able to touch lives, even for a moment.
