Description
When our family went to Yellowstone National Park in 2012, we stopped to see many sights. One of these was the Artists Paint Pots (I mean, really, I had to stop) about 3 miles south of Norris Junction. Artists Paint Pots is the most popular thermal feature in the Gibbon Geyser Basin. The Artists Paint Pots Trail is a one mile trail that takes you around colorful hot springs, two boiling white mud pots, vents (fumaroles), and a couple of geysers. The iron oxide stains the white mud into many rust colors from yellow to red-orange. But those are not the only colors found in the Paint Pots. There are also blues and grays and whites.
This is the View looking up towards Paintpot Hill. I loved the colors, the rusts of the iron oxide and the greens of the vegetation growing on the hill. Yellowstone National Park is beautiful country.
